Coffee Cake Recipe (Indian)

This coffee cake is a classic sponge cake topped with a Dalgona coffee concoction. This soft sponge cake is incredibly tasty and very simple to make at home. You can taste the Dalgona Coffee in every bite of the tender sponge.

I prepared a standard sponge cake and drizzled two to three tablespoons of the smooth Dalgona Coffee mixture over it right before baking. Simply swirl the coffee mixture into the cake with a fork, then bake it in a preheated oven until it’s done.

How to Make Dalgona Coffee Cake

First things first, butter a nonstick bundt pan thoroughly and preheat the oven to 350°F. Simply use a pastry brush to liberally apply softened butter throughout the inside of the bundt pan, being careful to cover every surface.

How To Make Dalgona Coffee Cake At Home

A basic sponge cake is the base for the Dalgona Coffee Cake, to which the Dalgona Coffee mixture is added. Every slice of the incredibly delicate cake has a little coffee flavour.

After melting butter in hot milk, we mix it into the cake mixture. This gives the coffee cake an amazing crumb and texture.

  • How To Make Dalgona Coffee – Instructions

  • Instant Coffee – 1 tbsp
  • Powdered Sugar – 1 tbsp
  • Hot water – 1 tbsp
  • Just take equal parts hot water, powdered sugar, and instant coffee. Beat this coffee mixture until it becomes light and fluffy. You can whisk it by hand or use your electric hand mixer. Before baking, set it aside to cover your cake.
  • Pour this into your sweetened milk and stir with a few ice cubes to make a delightful Dalgona Coffee. If you prefer hot coffee, you may also add this to hot milk.

To make the Dalgona Coffee Cake

  • 1 cup All purpose flour (Maida)
  • ½ cup Granulated Sugar
  • 2 whole Eggs
  • 4 tbsp Butter
  • ½ cup Milk
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • ½ tsp Vanilla essence
  • Beat half a cup of powdered sugar into two whole eggs until they become creamy. In addition, while creaming the mixture, add the vanilla essence.
  • Gently stir in 1 cup all-purpose flour and 1 tsp baking powder after sifting them. At this stage, avoid over-mixing the cake mixture and refrain from using your hand mixer.
  • Next, melt 4 tablespoons of butter over low heat in 1/2 cup of milk. Next, gently stir the butter and milk combination into the cake batter. The sponge cake gets a wonderful crumb and a golden crust when butter and milk are added at the very end.
  • Pour this cake mixture into a loaf pan that has been buttered. Use a fork or skewer to swirl two to three dollops of the creamy Dalgona Coffee mixture over the cake. The coffee mixture should not be added in excess otherwise your cake will taste bitter.
  • For 35 minutes, bake the cake at 180 degrees Celsius in a reasonably heated oven. Once more, the length of the baking time will vary based on the oven temperature.
  • After taking the cake out of the loaf pan, place it on a wire rack to cool. Lastly, slice the cake and serve Dalgona Coffee Cake alongside your preferred tea or coffee.

Tips for making the perfect coffee cake

Although the recipe mentioned above is a fantastic place to start, there are a few little tweaks you can do to increase the flavour of your coffee cake.

Use Room Temperature Ingredients
It’s crucial to utilise components that are room temperature for a flawless coffee cake. This makes it easier for the components to combine, which produces a smoother batter and a softer cake.

Don’t Overmix the Batter
It’s crucial to avoid overmixing the batter while combining the wet and dry ingredients. Overmixing may result in a dense, difficult cake. It is best to use a spatula to stir the batter at this point until it is just incorporated, at which point stop.

Add Some Flavour
Even while the recipe mentioned above is excellent just the way it is, you may simply flavour the coffee cake further. To add some more texture and flavour to the mixture, try mixing in some chopped nuts, dried fruit, or chocolate chips.

Don’t Overbake the Cake
Your cake is now prepared for baking, but you must avoid overbaking it. Use your judgement because you are familiar with your oven, or adhere to the directions provided in the recipe.
